Our Catholic Identity

What really matters in life is that we are loved by Christ and that we love Him in return. In comparison to the love of Jesus, everything else is secondary. And, without the love of Jesus, everything is useless.

- St. John Paul II

Our approach to education is directly informed by the Catholic understanding of what it means to be human. We educate the whole person in light of the conviction that every child is created in the image and likeness of God.

  • We believe:

~Each child is unique and infinitely precious – therefore we celebrate each student’s particular gifts in a nurturing atmosphere

~All people are curious by nature and seek understanding – therefore we foster and encourage a lifelong spirit of inquiry

~We are created to live in community with God and with one another – therefore we are committed to the formation of virtue and good character

~We have a responsibility to love our neighbors as ourselves – therefore we cultivate intentional civic-mindedness

~The Church is the steward of our Faith and sustains us in striving to follow God’s plan for our lives – therefore we nurture an appreciation for liturgy and Catholic traditions

  • Our Lady of Mount Carmel School is proudly Catholic, and our sacramental life is at the heart of who we are. We know that by developing strong roots of faith, students will not only lead happier and more peaceful lives now, they will also become adults who seek out lives of eternal purpose. Therefore, we offer them every possible encounter with the God who loves them:

    ~Weekly and Holy Day Mass

    ~Weekly Adoration and Benediction

    ~Monthly Confession

    ~Days of recollection and retreats

    ~Religion taught in every grade

    ~Serious exposure to sacred music

    ~Weekly Rosary club

~Frequent exposure to the Divine Mercy Chaplet, Stations of the Cross, particular novenas, and other Catholic devotional practices

  • We delight in fostering a culture that is oriented towards love of God and neighbor. We expect our students to demonstrate leadership and kindness by creating a campus atmosphere of patience, humility, and inclusiveness. They consistently – and cheerfully – rise to the challenge. Whether it’s a classroom discussion in which everyone’s voice is respected, enthusiastic collegiality during sporting events, or the genuine display of empathy and comfort towards each other in times of need, our students strive to love one another the way Jesus loves them.

We also provide students many opportunities to serve others in our community and beyond. From our food pantry drives to our nursing home visits, our school-wide service projects focus on feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, clothing the naked, visiting the sick, and giving alms to the poor.
